THB hotels steps up its commitment to society, the environment and ongoing improvements

Over the past year, THB hotels has continued to move forward with its commitment to a responsible and sustainable hotel model. This period has seen ongoing improvements to our facilities, initiatives to care for the environment, a boost for our social actions and the consolidation of strategic projects focused on the future.

Over the months, we implemented a range of actions, maintaining our commitment to quality and innovation while further reinforcing our focus on sustainability, positive impact on our surroundings and the development of internal talent. This overarching vision enables us to continue growing responsibly and in line with our values.

Refurbishments and improvements to our hotels

In order to continue delivering first-class experiences for our guests, we have recently carried out a series of improvements at several of our properties:

  • Renovation of the buffet at the THB Niágara hotel, improving its design, functionality and dining options to add greater variety and quality, including locally sourced produce.

  • Refurbishment of the main swimming pool at the THB Tropical Island hotel, with the installation of new equipment that will improve the efficiency and overall performance of these facilities.

  • A new food truck at the THB Gran Playa hotel, providing a more dynamic and contemporary addition to the dining options.

  • A new volleyball court at the THB Cala Lliteras hotel, designed to encourage active leisure.

  • Room refurbishments at the THB Lanzarote Beach hotel for greater comfort, as well as improved layouts and efficiency.

  • Refurbishment of the Deluxe rooms at the THB Tropical Island hotel, which now feature a more contemporary style and facilities, guaranteeing guests a more comfortable and updated experience.

Progress in sustainability and environmental care

As for the environment, we remain firmly committed to responsible management and continuous improvement, maintaining and renewing certifications such as ISO Quality and Environmental Management, Ecostars, and SICTED.

We currently operate three carbon-neutral hotels and are working to incorporate a fourth: the THB Gran Playa, THB Felip, and THB Bamboo Alcudia, with THB Ocean Beach presently undergoing the certification process.

One of our most significant initiatives was the Water Cycle Project, whereby pool chlorination systems have been upgraded to saline electrolysis and/or ozone treatment, significantly reducing the use of chlorine, which is a far more polluting product.

We also improved the monitoring of processes such as backwashing, achieving reductions in both operating time and water consumption. Thanks to this project, we can now also conduct the quantitative and qualitative monitoring of water across various areas of our hotels in the Balearic Islands.

As part of our commitment to the environment, each year we also collaborate with the Tursiops Association, providing support for marine research and conservation projects in the Balearic Islands.

These actions are complemented by agreements with foundations such as Deixalles, as well as more specific initiatives including:

  • The use of uniforms made partially from recycled materials.

  • Designated points for the reuse of beach equipment, such as sun umbrellas or inflatable mattresses, contributing to the circular economy.

Social and cultural commitment

Our commitment to people and to the territories in which we operate acquired a special significance this year with the celebration of the 135th anniversary of the THB Felip hotel. More than just a milestone, this anniversary highlighted the history, local roots and evolution of an iconic property that has accompanied the development of tourism on Mallorca for over a century. An event that reflects the importance of safeguarding the identity, culture and collective memory of the destinations we operate in, and of looking to the future without losing sight of our origins.

This close connection with our surroundings is also reflected in our ongoing social commitment. Throughout the year, we continued to support the local sports teams we regularly collaborate with, while also welcoming FC Murense as a new partner and part of our commitment to grassroots sport and local life.

We also take part in social and cultural actions, such as theatre festivals, and maintain solidarity initiatives that take place each year, including toy collection campaigns, in order to generate a positive impact within the community.

Training and talent development

Training and talent development remain a strategic pillar for THB hotels. In this regard, we are continuing to develop THB College, an outstanding initiative within the hotel sector that underpins our commitment to building an in-house talent pipeline and promoting professional growth from within the organisation.

Through THB College, we continue to roll out a range of training programmes tailored to different career stages, combining academic learning, hands-on experience and structured career pathways. Among these, our Dual Vocational Training programmes, for which applications are now open for 2026, will continue to allow participants to obtain an official qualification while joining hotel teams from day one, specialising in key areas such as Food & Beverage, accommodation, hotel management and maintenance.

In addition, the Talents Programme, where applications are also open for 2026, will again offer students the opportunity to undertake supervised internships across the various areas of the chain, following personalised learning pathways and supported by mentors who will guide their professional development and facilitate their integration into the organisation.

Likewise, the Expert Programmes, also delivered in a dual format and with applications open for 2026, will continue to target young graduates seeking specialisation through officially accredited postgraduate programmes, combining advanced academic training with real professional experience at the hotels. These programmes enable participants to take on real-world challenges, apply knowledge in an operational environment and develop the key competencies required in order to assume greater responsibilities.

Thanks to this roadmap, THB College will continue to build on high-quality training content, specialised mentors and dedicated training facilities, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation and ongoing improvement. This long-term commitment strengthens operational excellence, drives internal talent and ensures the future growth of THB hotels through its people.

With all these actions, THB hotels is continuing to move forward towards a responsible, sustainable and people-centred hotel model. The continuous improvement of our facilities, our commitment to the environment, social engagement and investment in talent development form part of a comprehensive vision that looks to the future with responsibility and a long-term perspective.
